City North Hotel

We are a lively and passionate people in the County of Meath, to follow is a short flavour of our sporting amenities and some history.

GAA
From the foundation of the GAA on November 1st 1884, Meath has been involved and particularly noted for its contribution to Gaelic football.

Twelve counties entered for the first All-Ireland Championship and Meath was one of them.  The first Meath County Final took place on 17th April 1887 and was won by Dowdstown who defeated Kells on a score line of 1nil. Thus Dowdstown represented Meath in the first All-Ireland Championship.

Strangely, between the years of 1884 and 1901 there is only one hurling match recorded for Meath County.  The first inter-county game involving a Meath hurling team seems to have been played in October 1902.

We keep our upcoming events page listed with any GAA games involving the mighty Meath and of course CityNorth hotel embrace all of these occasions for the colour and excitement they offer.

Horse Racing
Just like our neighbours in Kildare, we love the horses and have some superb racecourses to offer any discerning horseman, investor or general interest passer by as follows:

Golf
