Battle of the Boyne Site – Looking at the site one wouldn’t expect that the Battle of the Boyne, in 1690, could have such a lasting and central impact on people’s lives. 300 years after the battle, passions in Ireland still run high when the subject of James II’s defeat by William of Orange comes up. It’s not so much the battle as what it stands for - continuing differences between Catholics and Protestants - and the difficulty of overcoming memories of the past in search of a common future. Ardgillan Castle & Demesne - A wonderful place to just roam around the 82ha of rolling pastureland, mixed woodland and gardens, the castle has now been restored and the ground floor rooms and kitchens are open to visitors for guided tours. Tea-rooms are located off the main reception area, serving light home baked snacks . Five miles of foothpaths are available throughout the demesne, some made by opening old avenues, while others were newly constructed. They now provide a system of varied and interesting woodland walks, and vantage points from which to enjoy views of the Irish sea and coastline. 6. Seamus Ennis Cultural Centre – dedicated to the memory of Irish musician, folklore and music collector, Seamus Ennis. The Centre plays host to some of today’s foremost musicians, songwriters and artists - all open to the public (some require advance bookings) with a superb cafe on site serving delicious simple Irish fare and tempting pastries. Location: Naul Village - just 10 mins from CityNorth Hotel.
7. Man O War – situated on a hill on the original Dublin to Belfast road, the Man O War Pub had been dated in deeds from 1595. This whitewashed former cottage with its thatched roof hosts traditional Irish nights with music and Irish dancing. Location: Courtlough, Balbriggan just 5 mins from CItyNorth.

Funtasia Waterpark – An Egyptian themed entertainment centre, boasting the first of its kind in Ireland, pirates cove interactive waterpark, featuring over 200 water gushing activities including the adrenalin pumping super bowl speed slide and the Boomerang.
